Did you know?

  • There are more than 22,000 gun laws at the city, county, state, and federal level.
  • There are more guns in the U.S. than cars (228,000,000 guns according to the 1998 FBI statistics and 207,754,000 automobiles according to the 1998 Federal Highway Administration registrations). Yet, you are 31 times more likely to be accidentally killed by a car than a gun.
  • 90% of all violent crime in the U.S. does not involve any gun of any type.
  • Less than 1% of all guns will ever be used in the commission of any type of crime.
  • Home invasions are twice as likely to be successful if the homeowners are not armed.
  • Twice as many children are killed playing football in school than are murdered by guns in school.
  • Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. (Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000, the number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.) This is because the number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000, wile the number of gun owners is around 200 million.
  • There are between 1 and 2 million defensive gun uses per year by law abiding citizens.

Statistics from ATF and FBI crime statistics as well as private surveys.
